Podiatry is a 3 year undergraduate BSc (hons) degree with the requirement of undertaking a minimum 1000 clinical hours before qualifying. It is important that Health Care Professionals are registered with the HCPC in order to comply with standards and differentiates from non-regulated Health Care Professionals.
Foot Smart can offer a range of treatments. Our initial assessment will include a foot check, full medical review, blood vessel (pulse) check and nerve assessment with simple test.
Routine common foot problems are;
Nail cutting including thickened & fungal nails
Appropriate nail cutting technique and reduction in thickness of damaged and fungal nails.
Regular appointments for management and preventative advice on toenail cutting.
Corns & Callous
Removal of corns with scalpel. Advice on self treatment, preventative care and review appointments.
Acid treatments and advice
Full Diabetic Assessment including blood vessels and nerves.
Vascular Assessment with Doppler
Blood vessel (pulse) checks for at risk feet.
Biomechanical Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment
Musculoskeletal assessment of the Foot & Ankle for problems such as bunions, plantar fasciitis , hammer toes and neuroma.
Insoles / Orthotics
Off the shelf & custom made insoles / orthotics to treat a range of problems such as plantar fasciitis, forefoot and heel pain.
